ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE

 

Echoes of Silence amplifies the voices of the 'disappeared', the disregarded, the marginalized;  gives voice to the silent anguish of our devastated forests, earth and oceans;  celebrates the creativity lodged in all our hearts, vital today as never before to make the justice, peace and beauty necessary to bring healing to the Earth.

In the light of that vision, Echoes' workers, Paul Baker and his Nicaraguan wife, Fátima Hernández, have toiled shoulder-to-shoulder with impoverished people in Nicaragua for more than 30 years.  Before that, as a teenager, Fatima fought to rid Nicaragua of the vicious Somoza dictatorship. They work pro bono thanks to the support of family, friends and music/speaking tours within the US and European peace and justice community.

 

This support enables them continue to: 

  • coordinate local health, education , ecology programs and projects

  • dig/construct community waste water drainage systems

  • build with recycled plastic bottles

  • organize/accompany/translate for international delegations and other groups,

  • write songs, provide sound and transport for community and national events,

  • organize and guide workshops,

  • offer analysis/news to the international community via the written/spoken word, songs of revolution and beauty, speaking/singing tours of the USA and Europe

  • fund-raise for projects, emergency relief, and more besides.

 

… and supports these projects directly:  

 

  • NAGS AND NIPPERS

  • Bringing rescued street horses and rescued children together in mutual therapy

  • ADELANTE! MUCHACHAS!

  • Rescued street girls training as beauticians for self-esteem and financial independence

  • DECLARE INTER-DEPENDENCE - TAKE BACK THE DAY!

  • Break consumerism's control of our celebrations: ONE People. ONE planet!

  • HEAL THE WATER, HEAL THE CHILDREN:

  • Simple, cheap treatment systems to eradicate foetid surface water, liberating children from water-borne diseases, mosquitoes, exploitative drug companies, and other parasites
